Pirates, I know you’re hungerin’ for plunderin’ and treasure and if that’s so
get ready to row: HEAVE HO!
Pirates, I know you’re hungerin’ for plunderin’ and treasure and if that’s so
get ready to row:

WE’RE READY TO ROW NOW – what?
WE’RE READY TO SAIL OUT. where? – TO SEA

2. Pirate’s Picnic (the Owl Fox break but as a surdo break)

Called by snares (easier to hear than read about)

Finish groove with end break: get your boots off and walk the plank!

Turn: All except surdos continue playing and the whole band turns as in old samba reggae (this takes 4 bars) however this time the surdos play to mark each turning beat (beat 1 of each bar) so that’s four beats in total!

Break

Surdos only: drop anchor, land ho, pirate’s and scallywags let’s go,
row ashore and don’t forget the sea snakes, fish heads, crab sticks,

All: PIRATES LOVE, PIRATES LOVE, PICNICS!

All: a) I’M HOPING AND PRAYING THE CAPTAIN WON’T

Surdos: b) MAKE     ME WALK     THE PLANK!

In part (b) everyone but the surdos plays in between these beats or in schools perhaps the teacher only to make it easier.

4. Skull & Crossbones

rep vs CORTADORS

hoist the skull and the cross bones, are you ready? LET’S
SAIL, AWAY, ‘CROSS THE SEAS, BLOWIN’ ON THE
BREEZE taking treasure from? EV’RY BOAT WE
SEE! IN A PIRATE CREW (now) THIS IS WHAT WE DO (now) COMING THROUGH!

(This crosses bars often, which I’ve emphasised by starting each bar on a new line)

5. Mutiny

This is the new equivalent of the Led Zep break: there are spaces for solos.

All: captain, captain, this is a mutiny

Snares: cap-tain go ca-ptain go, cap-tain go ca-ptain go, cap-tain go ca-ptain go,
Band: WALK     THE     PLANK

All: captain, captain, this is a mutiny

The break starts and end with “captain captain this is a mutiny” and the other section (for solos) can be repeated as many times as required.

6. End Break

Call: pi-rates love to tease when they sail the seven seas and sometimes just for fun they could ask you to:
